DIRECT FLIGHTS TO QUEENSTOWN FROM AUSTRALIA
Incredible sunshine in both summer time and winter results in a popular golf resort for Australian golfers and players from all over the world. One reason Queenstown golf is so popular amongst our Australian relatives is that travelling to the heart of Qtown couldn't be any easier for them. Australian's can fly direct to Queenstown Airport from a number of Australia's major cities including the super cities Sydney, Melbourne and also Brisbane. In a matter of just a few hours Australian's can travel from door-to-door to appreciate everything New Zealand's adventure capital has to offer.
If you live on the west coast of Australia e.g. Perth, it's going to take you a little longer to get here. The typical flight time (including one stop) would be 10 - 15 hours.
Book a Direct Flight to Queenstown Using Google Flights
To save you a little time we've provided a few inks to Google Flights, which provides information about the best direct flights and non-direct flights to Queenstown from four of the major airlines. Google Flights provides the ability to search or filter by price, airline and whether you desire 'round trips', 'one-way' or 'multi-city travel' etc.
GOLF TRANSPORT - TRAVEL IN COMFORT & STYLE!
Upon your arrival at Queenstown airport, you're going to need some golf transport. You can hire a car or any another vehicle type at the airport, however in our experience it's better to organise your transport prior to arrival. Arranging car rental as soon as you step off the plane can be quite stressful and often visitors are eager to go straight to their hotel accommodation to relax in preparation for a spectacular golfing experience over the following days.
If you're wondering what type of golf transport to hire, you're going to need something practical, comfortable and economical. Two suitable vehicle types are the Mercedes Sprinter 'Prestige' and 'Executive' ranges, they're are ideal for the job - extremely comfortable, come with 12 leather seats, very spacious, reliable, air-conditioned and the van rental price starts from just $175.00 per day, so the larger your group the more economical it is

The Google satellite map above provides an accurate layout of Queenstown and its immediate surroundings. If you're going to hire a vehicle for your golfing experience, we highly recommend taking time out to discover some of the region's spectacular natural landscapes and infamous tourist attractions and destinations. To get your taste-buds going below we've provided a little more information than the map itself offers:
As you can see from the map above, the town is set amidst rocky mountain ranges. To the north you can see Arthurs Point in which you'll find the Shotover River and gorge. Gold mining featured in the Shotover River's early history, it was one of the richest gold-bearing rivers in the world. The precious metal was first discovered in 1862 at Arthurs Point, the river has been panned, cradled, sluiced and dredged. Still today small-time gold seekers still work the river and two of its tributaries, Moke and Moonlight Creeks, for gold. It is now a popular river for tourism and hosts the famous Shotover Jet boating experience.
To the east you can see the Kawarau Falls - The Kawarau Falls Bridge is an essential link on SH6 south of Queenstown which takes you Jacks Point golf course via the Remarkables ski area and mountain range as well as the Double Cone. The southern SH6 highway continues beyond Jacks Point to the small town of Kingston and ultimately to Invercargill and other towns and cities in the south of the island.
To the north of the town you'll see Ben Lomond mountain and the Ben Lomond scenic reserve in which there exists a well known walking track with a demanding climb, on clear days trampers are rewarded at the summit with spectacular panoramic views.
Glenorchy & Paradise Valley
If you head further west via Closeburn and around the Lake Wakatipu the road will take you to Glenorchy, Paradise Valley and eventually to Kinloch. Paradise Valley, Glenorchy is the setting for Beorn’s House in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. If you aren't already aware - the Glenorchy region was used for numerous scenes in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy including Isengard, Lothlorien and Amon Hen. If you're coming to Queenstown for the first time we highly recommend visiting this paradise-like place as it's just 45 minutes from Queenstown centre.
During your stay or Queenstown golf holiday you may be interested in taking advantage of some of the town's iconic activities such as the Shotover Jet Boat ride, NZone Sky-Diving, Skyline Gondola, The Earnslaw or AJ Hackett Bungy jump. If you're not the sort to chase an adrenaline rush and you enjoy something a little slower paced - try sampling a Central Otago Pinot Noir at any of the local vineyards. Alternatively there's fishing, boating, paragliding, mountain biking, walking and anything else you can think of in the Queenstown-Lakes district.
Queenstown has become the centre of outdoor activities within New Zealand, it is recognised as the adrenalin capital of the southern hemisphere. Although you're coming here to play golf, this playground has a lot more to offer and many people who visit come back again and again. if you have any questions about golfing in Queenstown or any other questions about the region please feel free to contact Stephen Jensen your local Queenstown golf guide on +64 21 784 339.
